Godwit House

We designed this garden in Summer 2023 and planted it that same year. Still in its infancy, we are delighted with the results in year one. This was an exciting project to take on with Godwit House being the most northern certified Passivhaus in England at the time. Having a panoramic view of rolling fields and the Northumberland coastline, the owner was keen to have a garden designed to seamlessly blend in with the surroundings. We designed meandering paths that turn from gravel, to timber boardwalk to mown grass through meadow as you move through the garden. Naturalistic in shape and style, the planted areas are designed to be soft with movement and texture provided by a selection of perennial and ornamental grasses. Muted tones are the backbone of the planting with pops of colour punctuating throughout. A meadow flanks the borders and provides a softened edge to an orchard area that was carefully planned for our Northern climate.

Before

“Raël is delightful to work with. She produced a very imaginative plan to be sympathetic both to my newly built house and to the surrounding landscape.  Making provision for wildlife to flourish was an important factor for both of us. She picked up the sort of feel I wanted in my garden very quickly.
